Something I could give my extrovert Mother?

Postby Pmarch12 » Tue Aug 04, 2015 3:10 pm

I have had a difficult time with my Mother for years. I of course love her, but feel like I need to find a way to teach her how to "deal" with me, or I need to learn how to deal with her. Is there any book or article somebody could recommend that I could have her read? Do you think this is a good idea?

An example of some of the things that happen is that she insists on engaging in emotional conversations at just about any time. Or when we have guests puts me in the spotlight or goes out of her way to think for me or console emotions that I would rather deal with myself.

I hope this makes sense. I know she loves me, but it can get real frustrating, and then I feel worse and drained when I react to it.

Any input would be appreciated.

Welcome Pmarch12, Have you told her how you feel. There's a book by Susan Cain, called Quiet which would be helpful.
