Anyone tech savvy?

Postby Daisy » Tue Apr 12, 2016 5:20 am

My MacBook Pro suddenly won't connect to wifi my iPad does so it,s not the connectin. I had someone come to look at it for $69. He suggested I let him take it for a week and $600. or more would fix it, I,m hoping there is something else I could try, It,s a mid 2012 with lots of storage left, so it's worth fixing.

Pay more than it's worth to fix it? Bring it to a computer repair place, or Best Buy or something
Hi, mac!

Thanks for your reply, $600. Is half of what I paid for it.

:D $600.00?? Lol, you gotta be kidding right?? Get rid of him if you are, he's a con-man who shouldn't be in business (why is he charging you $600?). It shouldn't cost anywhere near that much to fix a wireless connectivity problem. At worst, the price should be about price for replacement hardware ($10 for a wireless dongle?) plus labour. I would be asking very serious questions; why do you want to take it away for a week? Why does it cost $600? Where is your business address? How do I contact you when you disappear off the face of the planet with my Macbook two weeks later?

The chances are, you've pressed a button somewhere that simply turns the wireless off on your computer. A quick glance on Google yielded results such as this and this.

Thanks Kurtis, I,ve tried every thing I found online. I was smart enough to not let him take it, he was here for half an hour trying to fix it, I will take it to an Apple Store.

They did an upgrade to El Capitan, for some reason they knew that's all it needed. :)
