It might be better to separate the different parts of childhood like school, family, home-life, things like that. A child can be happy with one aspect of their live but unhappy in another. Speaking on a general and vague level is a little pointless and won't earn much of a discussion I don't think (unless it starts on one particular path).

Generally, yes. But there were times when I felt lonely because I didn't have a friend. And I hated school as a teenager.

I was really lonely and depressed most of my childhood. I had really low self-esteem and thought I sucked at everything and was really annoying. In my defense I sucked at everything and was really annoying. Things didn't start to turn around until I turned 13. I like to pretend everything before I turned 15 never happened. I'm just thankful now things aren't as crappy now.
