Redecorating rooms!

Talk about anything general that doesn't fit into any other category.

Redecorating rooms!

Postby Kurtis » Tue Jul 01, 2014 3:44 am

Here's a topic that just came to mind; how often do you rearrange rooms and / or redecorate your homes?

Personally, I find rearranging the room I live in helps keep the atmosphere inside it relatively fresh and 'different.' I often get bored with the same layout all the time so I eventually move around. When I lived at my previous address I had a fairly large room and it wasn't that unusual to rearrange once every four to six months or so; moving the table, the bed, the drawers, cupboards, television, everything around. I usually prepare a mental 'plan' and guesstimating where I can fit things if I decide to move a piece of furniture to another part of the room, and then shift whatever was there to another part. It's a surprisingly fun thing to do as a down-day. I think there's a bit of mental stimulation in there as well (not to mention physical exercise :D), especially with all the guessing and figuring out how to best move things around like a Tetris puzzle especially when you take into account stacking vertically as well as floor space. In this little box-room, there's very minimal space to rearrange anything so I'm mostly having to arrange wall-space more than anything and they tend to be more fixed so generally speaking it happens say six to twelve months or so, and even then relatively minor.

My favourite part when rearranging is when I'm buying new furniture and I need to figure out how to best fit them in and where they're best utilised at a certain point in time. if I think a cupboard would be better suited nearer my computer table, I would make provisions to try and bring that cupboard closer.

What about you?

I'm the same way, as I change things around at least every few months. To me it's a normal thing to do, yet it's surprising to me
that most of the people that I know don't do it.

How did I miss this? Unfortunately the layout of my house makes it almost impossible to rearrange. It sucks. If I go out then come back I get irratated as I'm looking at the same shit just at a different time :(

When I lived at my mums I would rearrange my bedroom about once every 3 months and I always slept better!

I find just changing the smallest things make a difference, such as pictures or plants

You can't do much rearranging in a one-room condo. I wish I could move my bed so the aircon doesn't blow directly in my face, but i can't.

That must be uncomfortable, can't you turn your bed around the other way?

Not really. The effect is the same. When I first moved into this place over 15 years ago it had an old-style aircon with plastic grills that you could physically turn sideways to re-direct the flow of air. That worked very well, but the modern aircon unit I have now uses the remote to direct the air flow and has little effect. The best I can do is put it on economy mode and sleep facing the other way. It works for me, but when the girlfriend sleeps over she'll start coughing in the middle of the night.

That's all you change? Today I re-arranged my bedroom, there's three different walls I can use.

How many years to have that many posts?

Yeah; I switched from a Parker Hale .303 to my baby, an IMBEL-built FN FAL

I've been posting since this forum started, so like 2 years?
